Reading your improvisation suggestions
was like "instant music" for me. I am improvising now better than I
ever have. I came to some realizations that you write about in your
essays rather late in life. Namely, as a kid I always wanted to
compose music but none of it ever sounded like Bach or Beethoven
that I studied so diligently.
My piano teacher told me "if you are
meant to compose, you will just do it". I was frustrated, because I
intuitively knew it had to be something that could be learned. Most
composers are not just born with a pencil in their hand. In school I
learned to write effective essays in English, I knew music had to be
similar...but I didn't know how to go about it. I have read numerous
books, too. I was a music major in college and I studied theory. It
can be explained in a very complicated manner! I like what you have
to say. The main thing is to get out of my own way. Thank you for
putting this together here.

Well
I've started and stopped several other
courses because they were too much effort with too little reward for
an adult beginner. But QM is hugely rewarding--I'm constantly amazed
at the abilities which have flowered in me in less than a month. I'm
still working with Lessons 2 and 3 because every time I play--and it
is very playful--I come up with a new and sometimes complex
improvisation! While I'm playing, I'm subliminally learning more and
more about what notes go well together and how, without studying
music theory.
I'm using multiple fingers on each
hand, which I certainly wouldn't be able to do at my level if I was
taking traditional lessons. It's kind of spooky how my fingers find
wonderful combinations, seemingly independent of my brain. I would
never have thought this was possible if I hadn't tried it. Plus, QM
is a great stress reliever because the more I relax and let go, the
better I play, and the better I play, the more I relax. No wonder
David Lanz endorses it!

Frees You To Truly
Find The Music Within

Well
This is a wonderful course. I love
learning at my own pace and at any time of the day or night. For
those of us who took traditional piano lessons, this "frees" you to
truly find the music within. In hindsight, this is how all children
should initially learn to play the piano!

I just wanted to Thank you for the
Online Piano Course offered by Quiescence Music.
Since last year I'm in pension I decided to use
my time mostly in writting songs( a Hobby I like to
cultivate ). By buying a Mac computer this comes with a
software by the name "Garage
Band " that I use to
make music and then I send to icompositions.com.
With the
last 3 or 4 songs I sent I started to use the Knowledge you
give us with your lessons . Another fellow a icomper noticed
a change in my music, he wrote: "you are getting better and
better and at a meteoric rate." Now I'm about to reveal him my
secret which is you Ed and your lessons. I hope you don't mind
if I tell my friend(s) of Quiecence Music.
I write to
you mostly to thank you for what you are doing and for the way you
are doing it because by sharing your experience and know how
you are not giving us a Piano Course but a " musical Gold Mine "
with many veins of improvisations to follow!
